Thad Grundy, Jr., Managing Director

Mr. Grundy has over thirty-five years of experience in a variety of domestic and international oil and gas matters, including three years as Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Affairs, U.S. Department of Energy, in Washington D.C. He represents mineral owners in their negotiations with oil and gas companies and in purchase, sale and leasing of their interests.  He also has experience advising oil and gas companies, service and supply companies, host governments, universities and institutes, international organizations, financial institutions and other members of the international oil and gas industry.

His practice includes drafting and negotiating lease agreements, exploration and production agreements, joint ventures, purchase and sale agreements, drilling and service agreements, crude oil trading transactions, sales representation agreements, and related agreements, and litigation involving U.S. companies in foreign jurisdictions, including identification of foreign legal counsel.

Mr. Grundy has substantial expertise and experience in international energy law and policy, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act issues, political risk insurance, government finance, trade sanctions, foreign assets control, the North American Free Trade Agreement, the Energy Charter Treaty, host government-industry relations, and domestic and foreign government relations, and the general representation of U.S. companies in international business transactions. He has worked in all major oil producing regions of the world, with particular emphasis on Mexico, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the former Soviet Union.
